The full terms are below. The plain-English box under each section is a summary, not a replacement — but I've tried hard to make them say the same thing.
Farglance is run by one person. Not a big company. If something goes wrong, you're emailing me directly.
These Terms govern your use of Farglance (the "Service") — including this website, the waitlist, the Golden 100 program, and any software or beta builds provided to you.
Farglance is operated by an individual sole proprietor based in Illinois, United States ("I", "me"). Contact: [email protected].
By joining the waitlist or using any Farglance software, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
Farglance is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc., Ray-Ban, or EssilorLuxottica. "Meta Ray-Ban Display" is used only to describe the hardware Farglance is designed to work with.
It streams part of your computer screen to your glasses. It is not finished software. Treat it accordingly.
Farglance is software that lets you view and interact with regions of your own computer's screen on a Meta Ray-Ban Display, or in a web browser.
The Service is in pre-release development. Features described on this site are planned, not guaranteed. They may change, be delayed, or be removed entirely.
You must not rely on Farglance for anything critical.
Do not use it for medical monitoring, safety systems, financial decisions requiring guaranteed accuracy, or any situation where a dropped frame, a delayed update, or a failed connection could cause harm or loss.
The stream may lag, freeze, disconnect, or display stale information without warning. Assume it will, and don't put anything important downstream of it.
Farglance is completely free. Every feature is included for everyone — no plan, no subscription, no card, nothing to buy. There are no charges, so there's nothing to refund.
Farglance and all of its features are provided free of charge. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and no in-app purchase. I do not collect payment information and do not process any payments through the Service.
If any optional paid feature is ever offered in the future, it will be described here first and will never change the price of anything you already have. Any earlier paid plans, "Gold," or "Golden Seat" offers have been retired; if you previously paid for anything, email [email protected] and I'll make it right.
The website shows Google AdSense ads to keep Farglance free. The glasses app has no ads. Ads use cookies; EU/UK/California visitors get a consent choice.
To keep the Service free, the Farglance website displays advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Your use of the website is also subject to Google's advertising policies. The glasses app itself contains no third-party advertising. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled and your choices.
I cannot see your screen. It's encrypted end-to-end. Even when it passes through my servers, they're forwarding data they can't read.
Screen content streamed through Farglance is end-to-end encrypted between your computer and your viewing device.
When a direct connection isn't possible (common on café, hotel, and corporate networks), the stream is relayed through servers I operate. Those servers forward encrypted packets they cannot decrypt. I do not have the keys.
Screen content is never recorded, stored, logged, or transmitted to any third party.
Information about how I handle your email address, phone number, and payment details is in the Privacy Policy.
Don't use it to break the law, spy on people, or look at screens you have no right to look at.
You agree not to use Farglance to:
Discretion is a feature, and it comes with responsibility. Farglance is designed so that others may not notice you using it. That is not permission to use it where you shouldn't. Exams, workplaces, and secure facilities have rules — they are yours to follow, not mine to enforce.
I may suspend or terminate your access if I have reasonable grounds to believe you're violating these Terms. There is no automatic refund in this case — if you lose access for breaking these Terms, your payment isn't returned automatically — though you're still free to make a claim.
Keep your login safe. Farglance won't damage your glasses, but I don't control Meta's hardware or software.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Farglance depends on hardware and platforms I do not control — including the Meta Ray-Ban Display, the Meta Neural Band, Meta's developer platform, and your own computer and network.
If Meta changes, restricts, or removes the capabilities Farglance depends on, the Service may stop working, in whole or in part. I'll tell you if that happens. Because a Golden Seat buys test access to the beta as it exists today — not a guarantee about a platform I don't control — there's no automatic refund if that platform changes; you can still make a claim, and I'll consider it.
The software is provided as-is. I'm not promising it works perfectly, because it's beta software and it won't.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
I do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected. You use it at your own risk.
If Farglance causes you a loss, the most I can be liable for is what you paid me — which is at most $100.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, I SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
MY TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE ACTUALLY PAID ME IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM — which, for most users, is $0, and at most is $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, my liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
The software is mine. Your screen content is yours — I claim nothing over it.
Farglance, its name, logo, software, and design are my intellectual property. Purchasing a Golden Seat grants you a licence to use the Service — it does not transfer ownership of anything.
You retain all rights to your own screen content. I claim no ownership, licence, or interest in anything you view or transmit through the Service.
If you send me feedback or feature suggestions, I may use them freely to improve Farglance without compensation or attribution. (Golden Seat holders: this is the point — I want your ideas.)
If I change anything that actually matters, I'll email you. I won't quietly rewrite it.
I may update these Terms as the Service develops. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
For any material change — anything affecting your refund rights, pricing, or how your data is handled — I will email everyone on the list before it takes effect.
If you don't agree to a change, stop using the Service. A Golden Seat carries no automatic refund, but you're always free to make a claim from your account.
Illinois law applies. But email me first — almost everything can be sorted out in one message.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Before pursuing any formal dispute, please email me. [email protected]. I will respond. In practice, almost every problem here is sorted out in a single message, and I would much rather do that than have you feel unheard.
Nothing in this section deprives you of the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence where consumer protection law grants you that right, or of any mandatory consumer rights available to you under local law.
