Me. One person. Not a data-broker, not an ad company.
Farglance is operated by an individual sole proprietor based in Illinois, United States. For the purposes of GDPR, I am the data controller.
Contact: [email protected] — this is also the address for any privacy request. There's no separate portal. You email me, I do it.
Only what the signup form asks for. Nothing hidden, nothing inferred, nothing bought from anyone else.
| What | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Name | So I can write to you like a person | Consent |
| Build updates, beta invites, refunds | Consent / Contract | |
| Phone number | To text you when your beta seat is live. Nothing else. | Consent |
| Do you own the glasses? | To decide who can actually beta test | Consent |
| How you found me | So I know which channel is working | Legitimate interest |
| Voice audio (only when you tap Dictate) | Converted to text so you can dictate notes hands-free, then discarded | Consent |
| Payment record (Golden Seats) | To honour your seat and process refunds | Contract / Legal obligation |
Your card number is not one of these.
Payments go directly to Stripe. Your card details never touch my servers and I never see them. I only receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded, plus the email address attached to it.
When you tap Dictate, your microphone audio is sent to Cloudflare's speech-to-text (Workers AI), converted to text, and returned to you. The audio is processed only to transcribe it — it is not stored by me, and it is not used to identify you. Nothing is captured from your microphone unless you tap Dictate.
I cannot see your screen. It is not technically possible for me to see your screen.
Screen content streamed through Farglance is encrypted end-to-end between your computer and your viewing device.
When your network blocks a direct connection (common on café, hotel, and corporate wifi), the stream is relayed through servers I operate. Those servers forward encrypted packets they cannot decrypt. I do not hold the keys.
Screen content is never recorded, stored, logged, analysed, or sent to any third party. Not by me, not by anyone.
I may collect anonymous technical metrics to keep the service running — connection success rate, relay bandwidth used, crash reports. None of it contains screen content, and none of it identifies what you were looking at.
Three companies, each doing one job. I don't sell your data to anyone, ever.
| Who | What they do | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Formspree | Delivers signup form submissions to my email | Privacy |
| Stripe | Processes payments. Handles all card data. | Privacy |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the site; transcribes voice dictation (Workers AI) | Privacy |
| Google (Gmail) | Where your signup email lands | Privacy |
Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone, for any amount of money. If Farglance is ever acquired, this commitment transfers with it or the deal doesn't happen.
The only circumstance in which I'd disclose your information is if legally compelled to — and I'd tell you unless the law forbade it.
There are no advertising trackers on this site. No Facebook pixel. No Google Analytics.
This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies. There is no Meta pixel, no Google Analytics, no third-party ad network, and no cross-site tracking.
Stripe may set cookies necessary for fraud prevention when you reach the payment page. That's their infrastructure, and it's required for the payment to work securely.
That's why this site doesn't ask you to accept cookies — there's nothing to accept.
Until you ask me to delete it, or until it's clearly pointless to keep.
Email me and I'll do it. No forms, no verification hoops, no waiting on a ticket queue.
Under GDPR (if you're in the EU/UK), you have the right to:
Under CCPA/CPRA (if you're in California), you have the right to:
Email [email protected]. Say what you want. That's the whole process.
I'll respond within 30 days (usually much sooner). I won't ask you to jump through hoops, I won't try to talk you out of it, and it won't cost you anything.
Want everything deleted? Say "delete my data." It's done, and I'll confirm.
I'm in the US. If you're in Europe, your data crosses the Atlantic — here's how that's handled.
Farglance is operated from the United States. Formspree, Stripe, Cloudflare, and Google are also US-based.
If you're in the EU/UK, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. These providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for lawful transfer.
Farglance is not intended for anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given me their information, email me and I'll delete it immediately.
I take it seriously. But I'm one person, and I'm not going to pretend I'm a bank.
The site is served over HTTPS. Screen streams are end-to-end encrypted. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS certified. I don't store card data because I never have it.
But no system is perfectly secure, and I'm going to be honest with you rather than make a claim I can't back. If there's ever a breach affecting your data, I will email you within 72 hours and tell you exactly what happened.
If I change this policy in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, I will email you before it takes effect. I won't quietly rewrite it and hope you don't notice. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
